ARCATA- Arcata has received the first taxes collected from the city's high energy use tax that was passed by voters in 2012. The amount of electricity users using three times the amount of energy than an average household has decreased.

ARCATA- Arcata Fire Protection District will continue their parcel fee for residents within their fire district. A committee made up of citizens within the district recommended that the fire district keep the $22 parcel fee to continue the additional revenue for the fire district.

In Eureka, police are cracking down on graffiti.

EUREKA- On Monday a Eureka man was arrested for felony vandalism and police believe he may be responsible for tagging as many as 17 locations. 

The Eureka Police Department received a call from a business on 4th street of a report of vandalism. Scott Joe Cano was seen on camera spray painting the wall of that business....

NORTH COAST- The California Highway Patrol is stepping up enforcement New Year’s Eve in an effort to keep impaired drivers off of the roads.
