Celebrators on the Arcata Plaza this New Years Eve can expect to see increased law enforcement and access to the William McKinley statue blocked off. According to Arcata Police the department is expected to police the plaza like last year's holiday.

According to Det. Sgt. Todd Dokweiler the increased enforcement has prevented crime and vandalism in Arcata.

Authorities are looking for three suspects in an alleged stabbing that injured a McKinleyville man in his home early Monday morning. According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's office the 23-year-old was stabbed multiple times in the back on the 2500 block of Daffodil Road and is recovering in stable condition.

EUREKA- A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Monday night after colliding into a van. It happened on Broadway and Tomlinson just after 5 p.m. Eureka police said Shannon Ray, 40 of Wolf Creek, Ore. was driving a Boyd’s Coffee company vehicle when the crash happened.

FORTUNA- Ninety-one year old Dorthy Nelson of Fortuna went missing for a few hours on Friday.  While the Fortuna Fire Department Rescue Team found her, the public was made aware of the search by a phone notification system.

NORTH COAST- One of several new laws taking effect next year focuses on Amber Alerts. According to the CHP starting Jan. 1, an expansion of the current amber alert law will go into effect. 
It requires law enforcement to activate an amber alert if a child has been reported taken or abducted by anyone including a parent or guardian that has custody.

NORTH COAST- Nearly two weeks after the Palco Pharmacy in Scotia was robbed at gunpoint, police have arrested one suspect they believe to be involved. Samuel Zarth Rogers, 22 of Hydesville allegedly robbed the Palco Pharmacy on Dec. 17 and then took off to visit family for the holidays in Pennsylvania. Rogers is accused of robbing the pharmacy of both Oxycotin and Oxycodone.
