County supervisors ratified an agreement that will provide nearly 300 county employees with a 5 percent cost-of-living pay increase. NORTH COAST- The start to the commercial crab season opened Sunday, but a price dispute has crab fisherman still on shore and their vessels docked.

A man is behind bars after allegedly robbing an Arcata bank.  Police say 63-year old Stephen Long entered the Bank of America just before five this evening. A Southern Humboldt man was shot and then abducted from his home by eight gunmen this past Friday. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Ranch Sequoia home of the 25-year old man by two of his guests. According to deputies, the guest were on an upstairs balcony of the home when they allegedly heard a vehicle drive up, men get out and start pounding on the downstairs door shouting commands....

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol are looking for the driver in a fatal hit and run accident. The driver reportedly left the scene after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with their full sized truck on the Humboldt Hill Road on-ramp at 10 p.m. Sunday.

A man's body was recovered floating in Humboldt Bay off Commercial Street in Eureka Monday afternoon. Officials said the man's identity is known, but are not releasing the name.

Sgt. Goodale of the Eureka Police Department said the man is in his late 40s or early 50s and appeared to be a fisherman. They did not know how long the man's body was in the water.
