EUREKA- Inside Sacred Heart Church the community gathered for Rev. Eric Freed's funeral a week after he was found dead on New Years Day inside St. Bernard's rectory. Over a thousand members of the community packed into the church to say goodbye to Freed.

We’re not even a week into the new year and there have been nine wildfires in the Humboldt/Del Norte area.  Cal Fire officials say this has been the most dangerous winter for wildfires in recent history.

EUREKA- A woman was taken the hospital Monday afternoon after her car overturned on Highway 101.

It happened around noon on northbound Highway 101 just before Fields Landing. California Highway Patrol said Wayna Lee Scovell, 66 of Eureka was driving northbound when she fell asleep at the wheel and veered her car to right, hitting an embankment and overturning her vehicle.

EUREKA- The man allegedly responsible for killing St. Bernard Priest Eric Freed made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. A wildfire that began Saturday continues to burn, and more than 450 firefighters are helping battle the blaze.

EUREKA- A fire broke out inside of a two-story house on Monday around 11:30 a.m. in Eureka. Heavy fire and smoke could be seen coming for the attic of a home in the 7000 Block of Tompkins Hill Road.
