EUREKA- Administrators at St. Bernard's Catholic School are preparing to help students deal with the grief of loosing Rev. Eric Freed on Wednesday. Freed was an advisor to the Catholic school and was the priest to many of the students.

BLUE LAKE- The Blue Lake City Council has been able to negotiate a deal with the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office for their new contract. On New Years Eve the extension to the previous contract expired. The city has basic emergency services, but no patrols or deputies at the Sheriff's substation in town.

BLUE LAKE- The Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Department has planned two fundraisers to help raise money for the department. The firefighters are looking to raise money for the 27 volunteers and help fund new uniforms for the entire department.

MYERS FLAT- In southern Humboldt a child was struck and killed Thursday after a pick-up truck backed into her. According to the CHP it happened on the 300 block of Myers Avenue in Myers Flat. Officers said Steven Tilsner, 50 of Myers Flat was backing out his driveway and didn’t see his two-year-old daughter walking behind the vehicle until she was hit.

EUREKA- Eureka Police Department said video surveillance from outside of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church shows murder suspect Gary Bullock on the property the night Rev. Eric Freed was killed.
Detectives were at the church Friday afternoon collecting more evidence and tell News Channel Three that Bullock made forced entry through a window to the rectory.

EUREKA- The new law outlining the rights of transgender students in California in grades K-12 took effect on January 1st, but could be suspended if a referendum to repeal it becomes qualified to be on the November ballot.
