On 2/26/2014 at about 2:00am, an officer with the Arcata Police Department conducted an investigation on a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Motel 6.  A male subject was contacted inside the vehicle and it was found that the license plates affixed to the car actually belonged to another vehicle.

A fire broke out in a classroom at Fortuna High School Tuesday. Fire officials say the blaze started around 3 pm.

A grease fire had broken out in one of the culinary classroom ovens. The school was evacuated quickly and fire personnel were able

to contain the blaze to the classroom. No injuries were reported.
