As of Tuesday morning, traffic is now open to two lanes. According to Caltrans, construction crews used asphalt to build gradual ramps in and out of the sink area. At its deepest point, the sinkhole is about one and a half feet deep.

Two California Highway Patrol officers were killed in a crash early this morning. It happened around 6 am on Highway 99 near Kingsburg south of Fresno.
CHP said the officers, Brian Law and Juan Gonzalez were responding to an accident when they themselves were involved in a chain-reaction crash hitting a guard rail and flipping over. Both officers were wearing their seat belts but died...

ARCATA- Small sitkas spruce trees and willow sprigs now border the edge of Allen Pond at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary. 30 volunteers helped to plant the trees on Saturday that will help protect the surrounding area and wildlife.

FORT BRAGG- College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees met in Fort Bragg Tuesday to listen to community members concerns over suspending instruction at the Mendocino educational site. EUREKA- A Sequoia Park Zoo exhibit dedicated to animals that are important to local watersheds, that will be open this June, is now half finished.

HOOPA- The five-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle is listed in critical but stable condition at a Bay Area Hospital. CHP officers said it happened Friday just before 6 p.m. when David Drake of Hoopa was traveling southbound on Highway 96 near Marshall Lane and hit the five-year-old child.
