RIO DELL- Residential water use in Rio Dell will now be rationed following state orders to stop using water from the eel river.

The FBI and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in connection to a bank robbery that took place last year in McKinleyville.

It happened at the Bank of America on Central Avenue. The suspect brandished a handgun, made a verbal demand for money and jumped over the counter to place the stolen money in a white trash bag.

Eureka - College Of The Redwoods Board of Trustees has voted to voluntarily reduce their numbers.

The college has been considering options for how to reduce the number of trustees to match other community colleges. The vote was 6-1 in favor with Del Norte board member Rick Bennett voting no. Bennett said he was dissatisfied with the way the new districts would be re-shaped.


Eureka - Police have made an arrest after finding a man beaten severely.

Eureka Problem Oriented Police arrested 46-year-old Darin Vitolo after putting together leads from the incident. Officers found the victim July 2nd near the 3300 block of Broadway. EUREKA- Voters throughout Humboldt county will see a new sales tax measure on the ballot this November. The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday for a .05 percent sales tax.

The tax would be incorporated throughout the county and if passed, is predicted to generate six million dollars of revenue. That money will go towards the general fund with an emphasis on public safety...
