The lawsuit between Eureka City Schools and a local charter school will not be going to court.

Three arrests are made after a traffic stop by Eureka Police turns up a large amount of heroin.

At around 7:20 Thursday night, detectives with the POP unit conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chrysler PT cruiser near California and West Hawthorne streets.

A big day is coming up for Fortuna – Mark Wheetley is set to start as the new city manager at Monday’s city council meeting.

Wheetley replaces interim city manager Randy Mendoza who has been serving the city now for six months and city leaders say he will be greatly missed.
