55-year-old David Soldano appeared in court Friday and plead not guilty to the murder of  50-year-old Timothy Thompson of Klamath and the attempted murder of Todd Burhus.

It was on Monday that Soldano allegedly stabbed the victims outside of Crivelli’s restaurant in Klamath.

Both victims are Native American and the stabbings are being investigated as a hate crime.

EUREKA - A fire erupted in a Eureka home, and investigators believe it was caused by a dryer.

Our cameras captured Humboldt Bay Fire engines arriving on scene of a fully-involved structure fire at a residence on the 500 block of West Del Norte Street.

ARCATA - A father and son escaped a fire in their home only to be trapped in the backyard by flames.

The fire ignited at 7:45 Friday morning on the 2200 block of Baldwin Street. The male resident attempted to put it out then fled with his son to the backyard and climbed a fence into a neighboring yard.

The names of the driver and victim in Thursday's fatal crash on Highway 101 near Westhaven have been released, and DUI has been determined to be a factor.

EUREKA - The Humboldt County Elections Office has released more numbers for the recent McKinleyville Community Services District open board seat election.
