HOOPA - We told you last week about the Hoopa Tribe winning a district court battle with the Bureau of Reclamation for increased water releases for the Klamath/Trinity watershed. Well the government appealed the decision and Tuesday that decision was upheld by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

ARCATA - Three new firefighters joined the ranks of the Arcata Fire District today.

They were sworn in at a promotional badge pinning ceremony which also recognized two newly promoted fire captains - Ross McDonald and Neal Narayan - and two promoted battalion chiefs - Curt Watkins and Rick Gomes.

EUREKA - A dog bite sent one man to the hospital on Monday after being attacked on the 800 block of Summer Street.

The dog was said to be a bullmastiff and he is still on the loose.

The man was bit on the hand, and his current condition and identity has not been made public.

EUREKA - Interim College of the Redwoods President and Superintendent Dr. Keith Snow-Flamer is a finalist to take on the position permanently.

EUREKA - The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body pulled from the water near the third span of the Samoa Bridge this weekend.

Her name was Richelle Anaya and the 28-year-old was from Samoa.

The Sheriff’s Office, along with EPD, CHP, Humboldt Bay Fire, and the Coast Guard got the call early Sunday morning around 4:00 for a possible search and rescue.
