Highway 101 in Southern Humboldt was closed for several hours Monday after a big rig crashed sending lumber onto the roadway.

EUREKA – One Eureka man is behind bars on a warrant that works after collecting money from Merced County residents who say he never completed a well construction project.
47-year-old Edward Mitchell Jr. was arrested last week on a $600,000.00 warrant by The Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office and the California Contractors State License Board.

FORTUNA - Fortuna Union High School students organized a walk out this morning after the removal of a campus supervisor.

Brian Cooney’s job was to handle disciplinary measures and he was notified of his firing yesterday.

During the walkout, school administrations would not allow our cameras on campus nor comment as to why the firing took place.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors passed a number of items during their meeting today.

One being a pilot program that will provide jail inmates will access to tablets.

This will start out as a three month trial at the end of which the sheriff’s office will decide whether or not to return the tablets.

EUREKA - Effective immediately, Dr. Keith Snow-Flamer is President and Superintendent of College of the Redwoods.

Snow-Flamer has served as interim president since Kathy Smith's retirement two years ago. Originally scheduled to take effect on July 1st, the Board of Trustees amended the contract to start immediately and installed Snow-Flamer by unanimous vote.
