CRESCENT CITY - Del Norte County is enjoying its lowest unemployment rate in almost eight years.

The numbers are out and county officials are pleased. At 9.3 percent, Del Norte’s unemployment rate is still much higher than the state average of 7.2 percent. However, it’s the best November since the jobless rate was 8.4 percent before the recession in 2007.

LOLETA - PG&E reports 221 of their customers are out of electricity after power lines came down in Loleta just after 5:30 Friday evening.

Areas north of Main Street all the way to Table Bluff are being affected. Authorities couldn’t confirm a cause of the outage. Crews are on the scene and do expect to have power back up by midnight.

Caltrans is making emergency repairs to an area of Highway 101 south of Willits because of a rockslide and a mudslide.

FORTUNA- As of Friday, more than 1,000 lbs. of trash have been removed from Fortuna over the last six years, thanks to the River Life Foundation.
