NORTH COAST - Just when the crab season is back up and running after an 11-day strike over pricing, more bad news was announced regarding Dungeness crab.

ARCATA - It wouldn’t be Martin Luther King, Rr. Day without the annual Bowl of Beans celebration at the Arcata Community Center.

It was the 11th year the community was invited to enjoy a delicious meal of rice, beans, cornbread and salad prepared by volunteers and staff from Arcata Elementary School.

Community members are making a difference in the lives of homeless people. This week 27 bunk beds and 54 mattresses were bought and donated to Eureka Mission Rescue, a local homeless shelter.

This was a combined effort headed by the Rotary Club of Eureka, which overall raised 20,000 dollars. Prior to this donation, occupants were sleeping in mattresses on the floor.

WESTHAVEN - A Westhaven family is breathing a sigh of relief tonight after they got back their son’s stolen ashes over the weekend.

"I answered the phone, and my brother just started yelling, 'I got Ryan! I got Ryan!'" said Joshua Wagner, Ryan's father.

Wagner and his wife are grateful to have the ashes of their son Ryan back, but it did come at a price.

EUREKA – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was best known as an activist, a leader, and someone whose actions in civil rights and non-violent confrontations, left a major impact on today’s society.
