FORTUNA - Dozens of Fortuna families in need got a special delivery Christmas Eve morning as part of the Fire Department’s Santa’s Sleigh program.

Come rain or shine Santa’s sleigh will carry on in Fortuna, and it has every year since 1987, delivering gifts from door to door.

CRESCENT CITY - A Del Norte K-9 Officer is going to be a lot safer on the job thanks to a recent donation.

K-9 Jango will receive a bullet and stab protective vest courtesy of Vested Interest in K9’s Inc., a non-profit and the Hausman Family Foundation. The delivery of the equipment is expected in eight to ten weeks.

NORTH COAST - Mother Nature hasn’t been cooperating with regards to crab season but now there’s some hope even though it won’t impact us for a while. Oregon and Washington have received the green light to open their Dungeness crab season January 4.

HUMBOLDT COUNTY- The Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate stabbings in Hoopa and McKinleyville that happened within fifteen minutes of each other.

ARCATA - The Arcata Fire District is recommending some safety tips this holiday season to prevent structure fires.

EUREKA - Local philanthropist Betty Chinn along with dozens of volunteers served nearly 300 meals to people in need on Wednesday.
