FORTUNA - A Fortuna man is in jail after attempting to redeem stolen lottery tickets and resisting arrest.

REDWAY - A wanted Southern Humboldt man is behind bars after leading authorities on a high speed chase. 37-year old Jesse Surbrugg was arrested.

Just after 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement on patrol near the 3100-block of Redwood Drive in Redway, recognized Surbrugg as a felon with a warrant for weapons violations.

EUREKA – Humboldt Bay crews responded to a structure fire Wednesday afternoon on Humboldt Hill.

The call came in at around four located at a home on the 1000 block of Fisher Lane.

EUREKA – Caltrans is encouraging locals in the community to be safe while driving in the first big storm of the year.

Caltrans says that it is advised to drive safe through really heavy rain pour. Pedestrians and bicyclist are encouraged to avoid heavy traffic flow during these times. Caltrans are prepared for storms with crews ready to respond to crisis due to dense rainfall.

EUREKA - Cory Crnich of the Eureka Police has served as the old town beat officer since May and enjoys a unique perspective of the neighborhood. He patrols by bike.
