EUREKA- Police are searching for the suspect who shot a man in Eureka last night.

Eureka police responded to 8th and N Street, just before 10 p.m. Wednesday. A victim had to be rushed to the hospital after he was shot by a male suspect. That suspect is described as wearing all black, and was last seen driving a silver SUV.

KLAMATH NATIONAL FOREST - There’s good news regarding the Gap Fire burning northeast of Happy Camp in the Klamath National Forest. Although it is now nearly 31-thousand acres in size, it is 65-percent contained.

FORTUNA - Several thousand PG&E customers had their power restored after an outage Thursday afternoon.

Just before 3:15, officials with the utility say a bird came in contact with wires damaging an insulator at the Newberg substation knocking out electricity to over 2600 customers.

Crews were on scene quickly making repairs and power was restored less than an hour later.

SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT - A multi-agency effort is underway to remove a gasoline-filled tanker truck from a Highway 101 embankment before its contents leak into the Eel River.
