EUREKA - A cyclist is taken to the hospital after crashing into a car in Eureka.

At 11:30 this morning, a male cyclist was riding on the wrong side of 2nd Street in Old Town, Eureka according to witnesses. A Ford Escape was inching into the intersection at F Street when the bicycle struck the side of the vehicle and fell into the roadway.

EUREKA - Humboldt Bay Fire extinguished a small blaze near a busy Eureka intersection.

Just before 3:00p.m., Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a report of smoke in the vicinity of Henderson and Broadway just a block away from Station 5. The hillside was obscuring a small fire spreading slowly through the brush.

EUREKA - A statewide, grass roots organization, which aims to protect gun rights, is bringing their message to Humboldt County.

EUREKA - Students at College of the Redwoods are most likely doing their first bits of homework tonight after the first day of class Monday. 

Some students will have their first day Tuesday, being on a different class schedule, but tons of students still packed the Tompkins Hill Campus Monday, finding their way between classes, and the bookstore.

The Tulley fire grows to 599 acres, and is now 40 percent contained. The last day of the Humboldt County Fair sees about 6,000 people. The Humboldt Handweavers and Spinners Guild has a sheep to shawl demonstration at the fair. Humboldt families get out on the bay for Family Fun Day.  The Timber Heritage Association held their annual Salmon, Oysters, Ales and Rails event on Saturday.

EUREKA - The City of Eureka will be under road construction for 4-days next week.

Beginning Tuesday, crews will be paving Henderson Street between H and D and 7th Street between E and I.

The work will require lane closures and detours but will be performed from 6 pm to 6 am weather permitting. There will be controlled traffic and motorists should expect short delays...
