EUREKA - Humboldt Bay Fire is warning about a recall of plastic fire extinguishers manufactured by Kidde United Technologies. A faulty valve component doesn't allow the extinguisher to fully engage.
Affected units will have the following five digits in a date code:

      2013: XXXX20413X through XXXX36513X
      2014: XXXX00114X through XXXX28814X

ARCATA - A bicyclist lost his life after crashing off the shoulder of the road in Arcata.

Sunday afternoon just after 1:30, CHP was called to Elizabeth Drive near West End Road.

Three friends set out on a rafting trip Friday down Redwood Creek. When they reached Redwood Falls, two of the friends got out of the boat, and set up a series of safety ropes down the river.

EUREKA  - The man accused of murdering an Alderpoint resident has been found guilty by a jury.

Friday in Humboldt County Superior Court, Matthew Aaron Brown was convicted of second degree murder with two special allegations for using a firearm.

He fatally shot 49-year old Alderpoint resident Neil Decker on July 18 after an alleged property dispute.

EUREKA - A bicyclist was taken to the hospital after a hit and run accident in Eureka.

Around 8:30 Friday evening, emergency personnel were called to 16th and J streets. A bicyclist was lying in the roadway after being hit by a truck which had left the scene of the accident. The bicyclist was taken to St. Joseph Hospital with unknown injuries.
