Thursday, Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a report of a structure fire on I Street with four engines, and two chief officers. Upon arrival the first arriving engine reported smoke and flames visible from a 20 x 20 outbuilding. While fire personnel were extinguishing the fire, the building was searched to confirm that all occupants were out.


EUREKA- A pedestrian is transported to Saint Joseph Hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Eureka.

The man was hit by the vehicle in the intersection of Henderson Street and Broadway at about midnight.  He sustained significant injuries.  The incident is under investigation and we will provide more updates as they become available.

EUREKA- A Eureka man is arrested after allegedly biting his girlfriend and lighting her on fire.

Police responded to the 600 block of Alpha Street at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.  A 39-year-old woman reported her boyfriend, 50-year-old William Johns, had just assaulted her.  The victim told police Johns had been using drugs and alcohol, entered the bathroom and lit her clothes on fire.  ...

EUREKA- The Eureka Police Department is asking for your help finding the driver involved in a hit and run collision.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the father of an 8-year-old boy told officers he was walking with his son at the crosswalk at the south entrance of Bayshore Mall.  The father said a vehicle leaving the parking lot struck his son causing minor injuries.
