FERNDALE- At a special Ferndale City Council meeting on Wednesday, the council could decide on the fate of an old barn located in a parking lot off Main Street.

The Nilsen Barn was built in 1902 and was originally used to hold farm supplies for the Nilsen Family Business, which eventually left the property.  In 2007, most of the facility burned down, leaving just one small barn.


CALIFORNIA- A new law designed to make biking safer along roads in California is now in effect.

Starting on Tuesday, as part of the new "Bike Buffer Law," motorists passing bicyclists on the road must allow three feet of space in between them and the bike.  If three feet is not available, drivers must slow to a safe speed and pass when no danger is present.  Violators will be punished...

Weed - A dangerous fire north of Redding closes down I-5 and has authorities going door to door to evacuate citizens.

Clam Beach - Fire officials had to extract a McKinleyville man from his vehicle after a crash near Clam Beach.

Around 4:30 Monday afternoon, California Highway Patrol was called to Clam Beach Road just North of Little River Drive for a solo vehicle accident that is still under investigation. When Arcata Fire crews arrived, they had to extract 31-year old James McGovern from his truck....

HOOPA- Crews have been able to gain more control over the Bald Hills Fire in Hoopa over the weekend. The fire is now 85 percent contained and has burned 210 acres.

Fire crews have successfully built a fire line around the fire and have started mop-up and suppression faces Monday. 400 firefighters worked to put out hot spots and remove hazards that may cross the fire line or roads.
