REDWAY- The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Redway.

Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Redway Drive. A female was found dead with what looked like a gunshot wound. The woman is described to be around 52-years-old. 

Anyone with any information can contact law enforcement.

NORTH COAST - A memorial fund has been established for the pilot and crew of the fatal Cal Ore Life Flight that crashed near McKinleyville.

Pilot, Larry Mills, Flight Nurse, Deborah Kroon and Certified Paramedic, Michelle Tarwater died while transporting, a victim in need of medical attention. That victim also died in the incident.

Press Release: Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office

On 08/18/2016 at 10:09 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant contacted illegal campers at a site in the wooded area near 987 Redwood Drive, Garberville. The Sergeant contacted two subjects who were found to be trespassing on private property. One of the subjects was identified as Marcus Allen Asbury (age 26).

KLAMATH NATIONAL FOREST - A bridge on a key access road to the Trinity Alps is back open after being closed for repairs.

The Salmon-Taylor Bridge which spans Taylor Creek near the community of Cecilville in the Klamath National Forest was closed August 10 due to water damage of a structural “sill beam.”

HUMBOLDT COUNTY – The deadline for filing for open city council positions in Eureka, Fortuna and Blue Lake came and went on Wednesday.
