EUREKA - Six months after Eureka’s panhandling ordinance went in to effect, city officials are calling it a success.

Requesting food, money or goods in specific locations became a misdemeanor following council’s expansion of the aggressive panhandling ordinance in March.

Prohibited locations included intersections, medians, and ATM’s to name a few.

REDWAY- A Redway man was arrested after deputies caught him with several pounds of marijuana.

Thursday, Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputies were patrolling the 45 thousand block of Highway 101 in Laytonville.They found 52-year-old Richard Franciskovich sitting along the highway. After speaking with him, deputies found out he was in possession of over 5 pounds of marijuana, and cannabis...

Flames and smoke filled the air on Monday as CalFire and other crews performed a prescribed burn on about 90 acres of Prairie Creek Red Wood State Park. 

"Fire is part of the natural processes that happen out here and in order to maintain the conditions for the grasslands as well as a whole host of wildlife...they need to be burned on a regular basis,” said Lathrop Leonard, California...

WEOTT- One man is dead after a fatal stabbing in Southern Humboldt. 

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office says it happened in Weott. Just before 11 p.m.Friday, deputies responded to the 400 block of Newton Road. A 23-year old  male adult had been stabbed and was transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital; he died shortly after.

FERNDALE - A revised version of the Korean War documentary, Coming of Age in Korea, was screened at the Ferndale Repertory Theater Monday afternoon.

The film follows different men and women from the Eel River Valley through their time serving in the Korean War.

The documentary was created four years ago, but was cut down in the hopes it will be able to air on television...

EUREKA - Monday is ‘All Hands Training Day’ for the county which means, “all hands on deck,” according to the County Administrative Officer, Amy Nilsen.

The county has stopped observing Columbus Day, but decided to remain closed to the public and use the extra time for a mandatory training day for county employees.
