DINSMORE- "All Stray Dogs Will Die," read the sign next to two dogs who had been shot in the head, hung by their hind legs and put on display just a few miles west of the small town of Dinsmore in Eastern Humboldt.

MCKINLEYVILLE- Two trustees with the McKinleyville Union School Board have stepped down after public outcry over the boards unanimous decision to restructure the district.

John and Mary McCarthy, both married, announced they will resign from the position this week. A group of parents are organizing a recall election of the trustees whose terms are set to expire in 2017.


MCKINLEYVILLE- Fire officials believe a structure fire that occurred in McKinleyville Tuesday evening started from a discarded cigarette.

The fire happened at 1762 ½ Bird Avenue shortly after 5pm.The fire began outside between a home and shed. The flames quickly spread to engulf the house. Fire officials say power lines fell on the house, collapsing the roof.
