RIO DELL- In a vote of 4 to 1, Rio Dell City Council approved the first reading of the Commercial Medical Marijuana Land Use Ordinance at a meeting Tuesday night.

BENBOW- An armed home invasion robbery in the Benbow area occurred, and the five suspects are still on the loose.

At 1 a.m. Tuesday, Humboldt County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Meadow View Road. A male victim said several suspects arrived at his home, carrying weapons, demanding money, and drugs. The suspects destroyed all the phones and stole $1,500 in cash and a shotgun....

EUREKA - A request from Mike Downey and the Sheriff’s Department for a Bearcat Rescue and Recovery Vehicle has been approved by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors.

EUREKA - The Eureka City Council took a major step and green lighted the Medical Cannabis Ordinance Tuesday night. The vote was 3-2 with Marian Brady and Melinda Ciarabellini dissenting.

There still is a lot of work to nail down the details. One aspect of the agreed upon part of the ordinance was to do away with the planning commission recommendations.

EASTERN HUMBOLDT/TRINITY COUNTY - Power was out to over 1,300 PG&E customers in Eastern Humboldt and Trinity County Tuesday.

Officials with the utility say around 1:45 in the afternoon, areas of East Willow Creek, Salyer, Del Loma and Burnt Ranch lost their electricity. Crews were on scene immediately because of the high fire danger. Power was restored right before 5 pm.

FORTUNA - A Fortuna home sustains significant damage to its attic after a structure fire.

Just before 7:00 Tuesday evening, Fortuna fire responded to the 800-block of 8th Street. Smoke was billowing out of the attic. No residents were in the home and emergency responders were able to knock the fire down quickly.

The cause is under investigation.
