PRAIRIE CREEK -- The first phase of rehabilitation for a historic visitor center starting Wednesday.

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park has been in existence since the 1930s. Construction is underway to upgrade the visitor center’s electrical wiring, its HVAC systems, and remove all non-historic ceilings, floors and other materials to bring the building back to its original design.

EUREKA -- A new trail connecting Samoa Boulevard to the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary is moving ahead as the city seeks permit approval from the Humboldt Bay Harbor District.

GARBERVILLE -- One man is dead after a suspected drug or alcohol involved collision in Leggett.
