EUREKA - Trucks and equipment surround Eureka’s Sequoia Park for Disney’s upcoming production of the children’s classic, A Wrinkle in Time.

Crews will prepare the location for the next few days and begin filming later this week.

Residents near Sequoia Park have been notified of road closures and potential disruptions to traffic.

MCKINLEYVILLE - The governing board for the McKinleyville Community Services District is looking to fill a vacant seat.

Helen Edwards recently retired from her position on the five member board of directors, because she moved out of the area.

CUBA - The BBC is reporting that former Cuba President, Fidel Castro has died. State TV provided no further details.

Castro ruled Cuba as a one-party state for almost half a century before handing the reins of power over to his brother, Raul in 2008.

FORTUNA - The fire that destroyed a single story structure in Rohner Park in Fortuna was estimated to cause $17,000 of damage.

Law enforcement believes it was intentionally set on November 3. The building was a storage unit that housed field equipment, netting, baseball uniforms and batting practice gear.

So far, police have not found a suspect.

NORTH COAST - With the acknowledged shortage of medical personnel on the North Coast, College of the Redwoods is stepping up to fill a need.
