EUREKA- A man is behind bars after being caught operating a hash lab in Eureka.

At 11:25 a.m Tuesday, EPD served a search warrant on the 200 block of Willow Street. 10 firearms and over 1,300 grams of drugs were found. 29-year-old old Gerald Bacon of Eureka was arrested for possession of meth and heroin for sale, operating a hash lab, and possession of tear gas.

WEITCHPEC - Two Mexican nationals were arrested in Eastern Humboldt after allegedly confronting the owners of a land parcel.

20-year old Marco Arellano and 21-year Edgar Hernandez were taken into custody. Just after noon on Friday, the property owners arranged for a civil standby with deputies on Lake Prairie Road in Weitchpec after being confronted by the two men months before.

SAMOA- Races are now a go! The Samoa Drag Strip located their specially designed sprayer that was stolen.

REDWAY- A transient man was arrested after leaving a Redway grocery store without paying for his lunch. The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office responded to the Shop Smart at around 2 p.m Saturday.

The store clerk reported that the suspect, 32-year old Jeremiah Gene Branscum, walked out of the store with a sandwich. When the clerk tried to stop him, he took out a knife.

HUMBOLDT COUNTY- Nine people in Humboldt County were arrested for DUI over the Memorial Day weekend.

That’s down seven from last year during the maximum enforcement period. It ran from Friday until Monday at midnight. The purpose is to keep travelers safe during the heavy amount of traffic.  

About 38-million Americans were on the road.

ARCATA-The City of Arcata will hold a public hearing to discuss the budget for the 2016 to 2017 fiscal year.

EUREKA- Some major changes are coming to Humboldt County's Juvenile Hall facility.

At Tuesday morning's meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved construction of a new Juvenile Hall to go out to bid. The project will replace the current 45-year-old facility with a brand new building, located on the same property.
