FORTUNA- A cigarette is believed to have caused a residential fire in Fortuna. The fire occurred on Wednesday in the 1900 block of Main Street. Officials say the fire began on the home’s back porch and spread up to the roof. Crews from Fortuna Fire and Cal Fire responded.

EUREKA- A sewer main break was reported early Thursday morning off Humboldt Hill on South Broadway near the 101 overpass. Crews with the Humboldt Community Services District are on scene making repairs. According to one of the crew members the area has been contained. At this time it's unsure what caused the break.
