MENDOCINO COUNTY - A Leggett woman is dead after crashing her vehicle off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County.

Just after 7:30 Tuesday night, the California Highway Patrol says 47-year old Paula Sanders was driving south near the Empire Camp rest area and for unknown reasons lost control of her 1994 Ford Escort, traveled off the roadway and collided with a large tree.

GARBERVILLE- The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death near Garberville.

Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to Bear Canyon Bridge at the Eel River. A white male adult was found dead in the water with his face down. His identity is unknown and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
