EUREKA -- Two women and their pet dog had to be rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Monday evening after their canoe sank in the waist-deep mud off Indian Island in Humboldt Bay.

Around 6:40, Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay received a call that two women and a dog were stuck in the mud.

A helicopter crew was launched and a rescue swimmer was able to get all on board the aircraft....

RIO Dell -- The Planning Commission will make a final review of the medical marijuana land use ordinance at a meeting planned for April 12.

The commission will meet in the council chambers to discuss testing laboratories and dispensaries. The meeting is the fifth in a series that looked in depth at the Medical Marijuana and Safety Act passed by Gov. Jerry Brown.

KLAMATH -- Redwood National and State Park rangers conducted a bird bioblitz for the public Tuesday.

EUREKA- Closing arguments in the Gary Bullock murder trial wrapped up Tuesday morning and the jury began deliberations. Bullock is accused of murdering Father Eric Freed in the St. Bernard church rectory in Eureka, New Year's Day 2014.

EUREKA - Two suspects are still at large after a high speed chase Saturday night in Eureka.
