EUREKA - Eureka High School was a victim of vandals over the weekend after someone spray-painted obscenities on an outside wall.

The part of the building affected was near the corner of Del Norte and J Streets. Officials with the school district said the defacement happened sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Cost to paint over the graffiti was around $500.00....

TRINITY COUNTY- Highway 299 in Trinity County is fully closed following a rock slide.

The slide occurred Monday night. All lanes in both directions near Big French Creek road are not open, and will remain like that throughout the night into Wednesday morning. About 10 thousand cubic yards of debris fell over the road.

EUREKA- Caution tape and broken glass was spotted at the Bayshore Mall. The Eureka Petco was temporarily closed following an alleged hit-and-run. 

Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, Eureka police received a call that the alarm sensor went off. Officers found damage to the front pillar of the store, which is located on Broadway.

FORTUNA-Measure E, a .75% tax increase will fund positions on the police force: a detective, a problem-oriented officer, and a school resource officer. It may also help finance the purchasing of new fleets for the force. A grant of $48,000 was donated by USDA but the project is still in need of $39,000 to be matched by the City. EUREKA- Turkeys on Tow Trucks are arriving just in time for Thanksgiving.
