LOLETA- A Loleta man was arrested after over 3,000 marijuana plants were found.

RIO DELL- A burglar learned the hard way after being shot in the leg, and later arrested for elder abuse.

Around 7 p.m Wednesday, police responded to the 300 block of First Avenue in Rio Dell. 33-year-old Whitney Hughes of Fortuna had to be transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital for a gun shot wound to the leg.

RIO DELL - For six months the city of Rio Dell has worked to establish a commercial medical marijuana land use ordinance, but at its city council meeting Tuesday night the ordinance was voted down.

EUREKA - He gave 70 years of service to the city of Eureka and last year he turned 100 years old. Wednesday afternoon longtime Eureka City Councilman and Rotarian Jim Howard got his own monument in Old Town.
