A car traveling at a high speed crashed into a building Wednesday night in Eureka.

Just after 11:30, a Eureka police officer noticed a red Honda Civic without its headlights on near West Wabash. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop but the car sped away.

HOOPA -- A man was arrested in Hoopa after a Humboldt County sheriff’s deputy recognized he was driving a stolen vehicle.

Gabriel McCovey was driving the vehicle on Highway 96 yesterday, with two others in the car, when officials conducted a felony traffic stop at Bair Road and detained them at gunpoint.
