Thousands of North Coast residents lined the streets of Eureka to celebrate the 51st Annual Rhododendron Parade.

Floats and marching bands made their way up 7th Street before heading to Henderson Center for judging.

 

Groups, including some of us from News Channel 3 adorned cars, trucks and floats with the colorful blossoms of the Rhododendron bush for the parade.

NORTH COAST - The Department of Public Health has lifted a health advisory and opened up an additional area for recreational Dungeness crab harvesting. The latest opening is from north of Redwood Creek to the Oregon border. The commercial season for this area opens on May 12th. South of Redwood Creek to Humboldt Bay’s north jetty is still closed.

FIELDS LANDING- The California Highway Patrol and medical personnel responded to an injured woman in the middle of the roadway in Fields Landing.

The call came in just after 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. According to the 9-1-1 caller at the scene, she was found in the middle of Depot Road, covered in blood. She was treated at the scene for minor to moderate injuries.

HUMBOLDT COUNTY- A pair of police officers from the United Kingdom have reached their halfway mark on a cycling journey making a stop right here in Humboldt County.

They started at the Canadian border and will end in Tijuana, Mexico. They have been all over Britain and Europe but this is their first time in the United States.

If you have business you need to conduct at the Humboldt County Courthouse on Wednesday morning you may just want to go in person.

The county of Humboldt will be upgrading its phone system at the courthouse on May 4. Phone lines in the building will be unable to make or receive calls beginning at 6 a.m. Work is expected to be complete by 8 a.m.

REDWAY -- Law enforcement is searching for two suspects after a marijuana transaction turned into an alleged robbery in Redway.

Just after midnight today, sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1,000 block of Redway Drive.

The victim told sheriff’s deputies he was selling marijuana to two black adult males, one of whom he was familiar with, named “Cheick.”
