Del Norte County - Authorities have released the name of the male victim in a crash north of Orick as 89-year old Russell Donahoo of Klamath.

Just before noon Monday, Donahoo was driving his Nissan truck near the north entrance of the Newton B. Drury Parkway and collided with a tree.  CHP says Donahoo wasn’t wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

EUREKA - It’s been an unsolved case for nearly a decade and now a suspect is in custody. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Fortuna man for a murder in 2007.

Stephanie Lee Fowler was reported missing May 26th of that year. Fowler’s skeletal remains were discovered in 2009 at an uninhabited structure on Old Indianola Road in Loleta.

EUREKA - A Eureka man accused of sexually assaulting a victim at a downtown Eureka hotel was apprehended Tuesday.

23-year old Markis Shirley was arrested around 10:30 am following a foot chase near the 2500 block of Union Street. EPD says the suspect was spotted walking down Union Street prior to the chase.

He was booked into the Humboldt County Jail on sexual assault charges....

EUREKA- A sales tax meant to increase funding for transportation improvements in Humboldt County now has the support of the Board of Supervisors.

In a four to one vote the board advised Supervisor Ryan Sundberg to vote yes on hiring a polling firm to explore support for a transportation sales tax. Sundberg represents the board at the Humboldt County Association of Governments.
