FERNDALE - Dozens made it out to Ferndale Monday afternoon for the town’s annual parade. 

Patriotism shined bright down Main Street as the American Legion Ferndale Post led the way. They were followed by the Kazoo Music Group playing songs including Stars and Stripes and My Country Tis of Thee.

ARCATA - Arcata Plaza is recovering from the thousands of people who celebrated their Fourth of July Monday.

The 59th Annual Fourth of July Jubilee took over the entire plaza closing off the four roads around it to all traffic. This made way for food vendors, local artisans,and a massive kids zone along 8th Street.

ARCATA - The 20th annual Fourth of July Katherine McCaughey Fun Run is in the books after Monday morning’s festivities at Arcata Marsh.

The 5K brought an estimated 350 people this year.

Originally started by Six Rivers Running Club, the Fourth of July race has been in Katherine McCaughey’s name ever since she was hit and killed by a car 19 years ago.

NORTH COAST - Caltrans was awarded a nearly $277,000 grant for a feasibility study which will examine linking the North Coast to Trinity and Shasta counties: as well as national freight hubs in the Sacramento Valley by rail.
