Fortuna - Redwood Memorial has a newly expanded physical therapy unit and Friday they held an open house.

Officials with the hospital are thrilled about the extra capacity to handle more patients. Five years ago they had only a few therapists and a quarter of the space. In that time frame, the unit has seen an increase in business of 400 percent. Expansion was a necessity.

McKinleyville - An out-of-town man is lucky law enforcement was on hand Wednesday when he drove away leaving a garment at the airport.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports one of their deputies assigned to ACV observed a black fleece jacket in the middle of Boeing Avenue. When the deputy picked it up, he found $7,000 dollars in cash in one of the pockets but no ID.

EUREKA - The Humboldt Yacht Club along with participating agencies will hold their annual opening day safety salute inaugurating the beginning of the summer boating season.

KLAMATH - With a poor spring Chinook salmon season expected, the Yurok tribe is adopting new fishing regulations in the Klamath watershed.

A survey in 1964 saw over 11,000 spring Chinook in the south fork of the Trinity River. In four of the last twelve years, less than 100 fish were observed. Poor habitat is cited as the prime factor of the decline.

KLAMATH - The Yurok Tribe has filed a lawsuit to end illegal gillnet fishing in the lower Klamath River.

The suit was filed against the Resighini Rancheria as well as Rancheria secretary, Gary Dowd for unauthorized harvest of fish within the Yurok reservation. Dowd and other members of the Rancheria have already been cited numerous times for fishing on the lower Klamath without a Yurok...
