Hoopa - The cause of death for the Oregon man who died on the Trinity River Saturday is still unknown according to the coroner.

33-year old Justin Bennich from Gladstone had just entered the river at Camp Kimtu Saturday afternoon when he was observed unresponsive in the water. CPR was administered and emergency personnel arrived a short time later. Bennich died enroute to the hospital....

RIO DELL - Bridge repairs began at 4 pm Tuesday  on the Paul E. Mudgett Memorial Bridge just north of Rio Dell.

The bridge was damaged when a truck with an oversized load ran into the structure and damaged the frame. Caltrans is encouraging the public to allow for extra time as all traffic on Highway 101 will be rerouted onto the southbound Nello Barsanti Memorial Bridge.

EUREKA - A Eureka man was arrested after allegedly tailgating a Sheriff’s Deputy then leading them on a high speed chase.

Taken into custody was 31-year old Jeremiah Leland Haycox.  Monday afternoon a deputy noticed the suspect driving too close to the back end of the patrol car. The deputy pulled over to allow the suspect to pass then tried to make a traffic stop.
