SAMOA - The future of the Samoa Pulp Mill is getting a nice boost with the addition of an economic development grant courtesy of Congressman Jared Huffman.

The $155,000 grant will provide technical assistance to the Humboldt Bay Harbor District. Harbor District officials are now working with the county to attract waterfront dependent businesses to the reclaimed site.

BLUE LAKE - Kids are all smiles after a new playground was installed in Blue Lake.

The structure was donated to the city by St. Joseph Health. Public Works employees completed the installation on June 5th. Thursday was the first full day it was available to the public. A plaque will be posted near the structure regarding the donation by St. Joseph Health.

BENBOW- State Park rangers, Fish and Wildlife wardens and the National Guard worked together Wednesday to address an illegal marijuana grow at the Benbow Lake State Recreation Area.

The operation was discovered in a heavily wooded section of the park while rangers were looking for a homeless encampment. At the site they found fertilizer, food, camping gear and ammunition. Authorities...

EUREKA- Security screening at the Humboldt County Courthouse received an upgrade this month, something that officers say will help keep all occupants safer.

Two weeks ago the county installed this brand new metal detector and x-ray machine on the 5th Street side of the building. Already it's catching some interesting finds like a bag with an ax, hammer and nails inside.

EUREKA- After much hard work, dedication, and perseverance Thursday 25 cadets graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at College of the Redwoods.

The cadets have spent the last 23 weeks going through intense training outside and in the classroom. 17 of the graduating cadets have already landed jobs with local law enforcement agencies.
