EUREKA - Conflicting stories to law enforcement landed two people in jail after a stabbing in Eureka.

36-year old Jennifer Wall and 45-year old Lance Coats were arrested.  Around 4:30 Wednesday morning, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to St. Joseph Hospital. A 34-year old female had sustained a non-life threatening stab wound.

FORTUNA- Voters gave the Fortuna Fire Protection District the green light for it's proposed fire benefit assessment, approving the tax increase from $12 per residence, per year, to $72. The increase will take effect July 2016. In the meantime, the district says it intends to begin building up it's fire prevention program, while planning new resident and volunteer staffing programs.
