SAMOA - Emergency personnel responded to a vegetation fire Friday in Samoa.

Just after 1:30, Samoa Peninsula Volunteer Fire personnel were called to a wind driven blaze near Vance Avenue. Arcata Fire and Humboldt Bay Fire also joined in suppression efforts. Firefighters were able to keep the flames to a 100 x 100 foot area.

REDWAY-Another fire in Southern Humboldt, but this one sent a person to the hospital.

Around 12:30 p.m Friday, Cal Fire says crews responded to a residential fire at Birdie Street and Orchard Lane in Redway. Powerlines were knocked down and pets were at the scene. It's estimated that a quarter acre was burned and the flames spread to nearby vegetation.
