EUREKA - The Eureka Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating a second suspect from a string of recent robberies.

Between December 23 of 2016 and January 20 of 2017, four armed robberies took place in Eureka and in other areas of the county. One suspect, Ezra Williams of Rio Dell was taken into custody but 33-year old Rocky Keene is still at large.

RIO DELL - The city of Rio Dell has been looking into a cannabis tax for about a year now, and this upcoming week they will have a plan drafted for voters to put into effect.

KLAMATH - The suspect in the Klamath stabbings was charged today with murder and a special circumstance allegation.

56-year-old David Joseph Soldano of Klamath allegedly used a knife to kill Timothy Thompson because he is Native American.

Soldano was also charged with the attempted murder and hate crime of Todd Burhus who is also Native American.

EUREKA - Wind knocked down a tree at Avenue of the Giants bringing down the county's fiber optic line and prompting a full road closure. When Caltrans called AT&T to repair the lines, no crews were available to respond because they're all on strike.
Communications Workers of America Local 9400 called for a grievance strike that began in San Diego then spread statewide.

EUREKA - The state may be seeing more of Eureka after council approved the city's efforts to be a part of California's cultural district pilot program.

If approved by the California Arts Council, Eureka will be promoted statewide and be eligible for a yearly stipend to build on the city's unique character.

EUREKA - Visitors to Sequoia Park Zoo will pay increased admission fees now that council approved the updated Master Plan.

Adults will pay $10 while tickets for kids will hold at $6.

Prices will no longer fluctuate based on the season. And while weekly discounts will be eliminated, visitors can still enter for a reduced fee once a month. Changes are expected to be implemented...
