EUREKA - Law enforcement is searching for an armed man after a victim is kidnapped at gunpoint following an alleged argument in Eureka. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for 31-year old Travis Morgan, Jr.

FORTUNA-The man who survived a traffic collision last week has been identified. 

31-year-old Ventsislav Aleksandrov Donchev from Chicago was heading eastbound on HWY 36 from Fortuna. For unknown reasons the vehicle went off the road and down a steep embankment. FERNDALE-Over 1,500 people in Ferndale were without power.

PG&E officials say the electricity went out close to 1 am Monday. The reason- they had equipment problems.

The power was restored a little after 8 am.

EUREKA-A new officer has joined the Eureka Police Department.

MCKINLEYVILLE- A little scare for parents today. McKinleyville Middle School was temporarily on lockdown.

Around 10 a.m Monday, HCSO responded to the central avenue area. People reported hearing what sounded like suspected gun shots. The school was on lockdown for 15 minutes. Luckily, there was no shooting and no injuries. Deputies said it was illegal fireworks.
