KLAMATH NATIONAL FOREST – A new fire that started small and then grew substantially is challenging fire fighters in the Klamath National Forest.

The Gap Fire began yesterday southeast of Happy Camp. Initially it was observed to be around 400-acres. Overnight it ballooned to over 5000-acres.

The Tulley fire grows to 599 acres, and is now 40 percent contained. The last day of the Humboldt County Fair sees about 6,000 people. The Humboldt Handweavers and Spinners Guild has a sheep to shawl demonstration at the fair. Humboldt families get out on the bay for Family Fun Day.  The Timber Heritage Association held their annual Salmon, Oysters, Ales and Rails event on Saturday.

The Tully Fire has spread to 571 acres, and is 25 percent contained. A Phillipsville man is convicted of manslaughter in a shooting death. The Eureka Faith Center holds a yard sale to go towards human trafficking awareness. The annual Hops in Humboldt beer festival hits Fortuna. EUREKA - The City of Eureka will be under road construction for 4-days next week.

Beginning Tuesday, crews will be paving Henderson Street between H and D and 7th Street between E and I.

The work will require lane closures and detours but will be performed from 6 pm to 6 am weather permitting. There will be controlled traffic and motorists should expect short delays...

EUREKA - A Southern Humboldt man pled guilty Friday to manslaughter and claims to not remember the incident. 60-year old Earl Orr of Phillipsville could serve 14-years in prison for the shooting death of 47-year old Jessica Hare.

Authorities say back in April of 2015, Orr was found asleep in the trailer where Hare’s body was located.An autopsy confirmed she died from a single gunshot...

NORTHEASTERN HUMBOLDT - Four days later and the Tully arson fire continues to burn. However, fire fighters have slowed its growth.
