Updated Election Results Released - No Changes
The Humboldt County Elections Office has finished counting some 13,000 mail-in and provisional ballots from the November 2nd election and has released updated race results and the extra votes did not change any major results from election night. In the closest races the early leaders held and in some cases even built on their election night leads. In the Humboldt County Fifth District Supervisor Race updated results give Ryan Sandberg a 154 vote advantage over Patrick Cleary. The Humboldt DA's race now shows incumbent Paul Gallegos with a 2,169 vote lead over challenger Allison Jackson and in Eureka City Council Ward 3 Mike Newman continues to lead Ron Kuhnel, Newman's updated vote total puts him 173 votes ahead of Kuhnel. The only Humboldt County race where the new count appears to have changed the result is in Southern Humboldt where updated results now show Mary Krisse Branzei has claimed one of three spots on the Southern Humboldt Community Healthcare District. On Election night Barbara Truitt, Gary Wellborn and Corinne Stromstad were the top vote getters but while Truitt and Wellborn held their positions after the results were updated Branzei has now replaced Stromstad. These new updated results are still unofficial and will be until certified by the Humboldt Board of Supervisors on Tuesday. Once certified, candidates will have 5 days to challenge the results. Updated results for all races can be found at the Election Office's website http://co.humboldt.ca.us/election/content/content.asp?pg=election_results.htm
