Alaska/Horizon Airlines Pulls out of Eureka
Alaska Airlines is pulling out of the Eureka market. The airline announced today that its' Eureka to Los Angeles flights operated by Horizon Air will be discontinued as of April 17. In a news release Alaska Air Vice-President for planning and revenue management Andrew Harrision said the decision to drop Eureka was strictly a financial one. "We have tried for several years to improve the financial performance of this market but unfortunately we saw no significant change" said Harrison. Harrison said the number of passengers flying between Eureka and L.A. was simply not enough to operate the flights profitably. Alaska/Horizon has been flying out of Eureka since 1994. The airline is also pulling out of the Redding market where it has been operating since 1992. Passengers with affected flights will be re-booked on other airlines or given a full refund.
