One dead in Del Norte / Tsunami Warning downgraded to Advisory
A 25-year-old man swept into the Pacific Ocean near the Klamath River in Del Norte County is presumed dead. Authorities say the man and two others were on the shoreline taking pictures of the tsunami waves when we they were swept out to sea, two of the men made it back to shore safely but the 25-year-old did not. His body has not been located but officials say he is believed to have died. The National Weather Service around 4pm downgraded the tsunami warning that the entire California coast had been under since the early hours of this morning to an advisory indicating that the immediate danger is over. The tsunami waves did the most damage in Crescent City where 35 to 40 boats moored in the harbor were damaged as most of the dock structures were destroyed. There were no reports of injuries or other property damage in Crescent City.
