*The investigation into the homicide of Darrell Hanger Sr., 50 years of Willow Creek is continuing. Sheriff Investigators have identified four suspects in the case and located two of those suspects at approximately 4:30 p.m., 05-05-2011, walking down Patterson Road, Willow Creek. The location the two suspects were found was about one mile from the crime scene. Taken into custody were Sonia I. Hunsucker, age 30 years, from Hoopa, and Jackson E. Surber, age 29 years from Hoopa. Sheriffs Investigators have identified two additional suspects, Samantha Kristen Machado aka Samantha Smoker, 26 years from Eureka, and Bruce Jason Stallings-Hunsucker, 36 years from Eureka as suspects in the homicide of Darrell Hanger Sr. Both are still at large and a be-on-the-look-out (B.O.L.O.) by law enforcement has been issued for them. They are believed to be armed and dangerous, and anyone knowing of their whereabouts is requested to notify the Sheriff’s Office immediately. They are believed to be in the Weitchpec area or Eureka. Bruce Stallings-Hunsucker is believed to have a serious gunshot wound to his arm and shoulder as a result of the incident that needs medical attention.

Both Surber and Hunsucker were on active parole. The Sheriffs Office had also been looking for Surber and Hunsucker in connection with another home invasion case in which they were the suspects. (Case # 201102027) That case occurred on April 10, 2011 on top of Lake Prairie Road, Weitchpec. They were booked into the Humboldt County Jail on a Parole Hold, and charges from the April 10, 2011 case of assault with a firearm, threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, burglary, false imprisonment, shooting at an inhabitant dwelling and robbery. Because of the parole hold they are being held without bail.

Sheriff Investigators will also be seeking murder and other charges relating to the death of Darrell Hanger Sr. through the Humboldt County District Attorneys Office. Sheriffs Investigators learned during their investigation of the Hanger murder that the four suspects are believed to have committed the burglary of the Hangers son’s residence on May 4, 2011 and then returned to steal more items from the home on the date of the shooting. The homeowner, Darrel Hanger Jr. 25 years and his father, Darrell Hanger Sr. 50 years confronted them on May 5, 2011, which resulted in both Hangers being shot, and Darrell Hanger Sr. being killed
