Humboldt County Wins $25,000 Federal Grant
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission announces the winners of over $8 million in federal grant funds to support research and development that advances voting accessibility technology to enable citizens with disabilities to vote privately and independently. A portion of the funds ($1.4 million) will also support research to develop and document processes and best practices for coordinating quality and cost-effective voting system pre-election logic and accuracy testing (L&A) and post-election audits.
The Accessible Voting Technology and the Pre-Election Logic and Accuracy/Post Election Audit Initiative grants are authorized by the Help America Vote Act of 2002. Humboldt County will use the funds to develop better reporting capabilities and a training manual to assist those conducting audits in Humboldt and other counties interested in the method associated with the Humboldt County Election Transparency Project.
