BREAKING NEWS: MAN WANTED FOR SHOOTING 13 YEAR OLD GIRL AND HER MOTHER

Authorities are looking for 60 year old Jerry Wayne Steele who they believe shot a 13 year old girl and her Mother this morning at the Shangri- La Trailer Court in North Crescent City. 
Sheriff investigators say the daughter is in grave condition, and the mother was airlifted to an out-of-the-area hospital for a higher level of treatment, as she suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities still don't know the relationship between the suspect and victims.
Steele is considered armed and dangerous, and may be in posession of a small caliber handgun. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 190, with gray or white hair.  Steele was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. 
Steele was seen leaving on foot but authorities say he could be driving one of the 3 cars registered in his name: they include a 1996 Jeep station wagon, a 1977 Buick sedan and a 1983 Ford. Steele lives in the Bay Area and may be headed back home.

A "shelter & place" was in effect at all Del Norte County schools, but was lifted around 12:30 p.m.
