BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB STILL NEEDS MONEY
We broke the story and its not over yet… our boys and girls club is still in need of money to stay open. They’re on their way to meeting their funding goals thanks to some very generous donors they want to thank Mercer Frasier and O and M Industries for their contributions but they still need more money or these kids will have no where to go.
An anonymous donor gave $50,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of the Redwoods and that will satisfy the funding they need to keep their doors open for the kids this summer, but what they’re working for, a $35,000 grant from their national organization, they’re only at 25% of the funding, 16 thousand dollars, that they need to secure that grant. They were luckily able to raise the current monies in just a week, but they need to hit 70 thousand by September 31st of they’ll lose out on the grant.
Even that fundraising is only enough money to keep them open through the calendar year.
News Channel 3 spoke to a former board member who has been active in fundraising for the organization.
“Boys and Girls club will be open for the summer, and so now we're working on sustaining it basically. So we have reached our immediate goal, but the doors will be open the summer programs will be open to the kids. Now we're working on putting in structures of sustaining them basically you know to create longevity of it and so we don't get in to that kind of pressure situation again,” former board memberDave Spurling said.
