HISTORIC EUREKA INN CELEBRATES 90TH BIRTHDAY
The Eureka Inn is celebrating a milestone of a birthday. Wes Martin, an employee at the historic Eureka Inn is busy running around, making sure they have one great party.
"Well Friday is our 90th birthday. And here in the lobby we are going to have a brass band and swing dancing from 7 until 9:30."
Patrons can also expect the grand re-opening of the famous Bristol Rose Restaurant.
"The Bristol Rose Restaurant has been closed for so long now that we not really going to figure out what we need to do in there and to revamp the menu until we get it open and get some food coming out."
Wes martin is encouraging the community to come out and join them in this momentous occasion.
"So you can come in and get some drinks, do a little mingling. If you want to get a snack, grab a snack. The big band plays at 7pm."
Employees are hoping that this party will bring back the spirit of 1922, the year that the inn opened.
"This place was always something really special especially around Christmas time and the holidays. Which is exactly the type of spirit we are trying to reinvigorate here.”
Emma Burns, an employee who works at the front desk lit up when she talked about the famous guests who have stayed at the inn.
"JD Rockefeller jr., Winston Churchill, Shirley Temple came here."
She can recall being a little girl and enjoying the festivities.
"Its just this incredible building, I mean I remember coming here when i was little and performing plays in front of the Christmas tree. So I’m so happy that its still here."
The owner of the Eureka Inn told us that he purchased the building because he felt it should always be present in eureka.
"So when I saw that the building was closing, I was very upset."
Thanks to the new owners the beautiful green and white inn can once again celebrate another birthday.
"We have our restaurant opening, we have music going on all though the building. It should be lots of fun."
Doors open at 4pm and the celebration is expected to run until mid night.
