A new sustainable energy plan was unveiled today. It’s an introduction to "re-power" Humboldt County."The reason it's important is that we have a way to make electricity locally as everybody does with this technology rather than trying to rely on some other resource from further away."At the waterfront fisherman terminal, over 40 thousand watts of power sits atop the building. A new electrical car charging station sits in the front parking lot. The project is being funded by a grant provided by the California Energy Commission. The Redwood Coast Energy Authority is doing analysis with “SHOTS” Energy Resource Center at HSU. The senior researcher for this project says that Humboldt has the ability to achieve a sustainable energy future.
