The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors are working on a plan they hope will benefit the county. The general plan has been 12 years in the making and is also hundreds of pages long.
Officials had to revise the former plan that began in 1984 due to changes in state and federal laws.
The plan is basically a rulebook that will set forth ways to protect rivers, streams, and vegetation. In addition to public comments the board also receives in-put from homeowners associations making it a long and difficult process. The Board of Supervisors are hoping to have the plan finished in the next three to four months.
