JACOB NEWMAKER: Toxicology Results from Officer Involved Shooting in Fortuna

Toxicology results on Jacob Newmaker show he had a toxic level of Methamphetamine in his system when he fought with police in Fortuna. He was later shot dead. The district attorney’s office confirms to News Channel 3 today that Newmaker did have a toxic level of meth in his system during the time of the officer involved shooting. D.A. Paul Gallegos says he cannot speculate on the science of the drugs and Newmaker’s actions. Newmaker also had a history of mental health issues.Those factors may have contributed to the behavior that led to the shooting. On Friday the investigation by the D.A.’s office concluded that the officer-involved shooting was justified.
