A Fortuna Woman Gets A Shocking 100th Birthday Surprise
A 100th birthday surprise has one Fortuna woman up in the air. Our cameras were there to catch the surprise on her face when her wish is granted.
Fortuna resident Pearl Frey took the ride of her life today. When asked what she wanted for her 100th birthday she said she wanted to ride in a helicopter.
"Its something I’ve looked forward to for years and years and years. And now to reach it at 100, thanks to these people."
Anxious to ride again, Frey is already planning her next trip up.
"I said maybe when I’m 110 they'll send me up again."
Sue Moore works for Visiting Angels, which provides in home senior care. Moore is the women who help make this dream come true when she presented Frey with her present at her birthday party last Saturday.
"She had a birthday party and i asked her daughter what do you get a 100 year old lady for her birthday. And she said you wouldn't believe what she wants. Pearl would like a helicopter ride."
Frey arrived at the airport and was escorted by Cal Fire up to the tar mat. This was also Frey’s first time in a fire engine.
She didn’t look scared at all when pilot Glenn Gunther helped her into the helicopter. Gunther works for Redwood Coast Helicopters and volunteered his time here today.
Sue also told us that pearl is a beloved member of the Fortuna community and that 80 people attended her 100th birthday party.
